Old skool hip hop joint

Was out at the Good Vibrations Festival last night. Came around 7pm and caught Electrico. They did a pretty good set, except for some mixing problems during the 1st song.

Proceeded to get pissed. Beer going for $8 per can was not funny. Hung out with Jay S (which non-hip-hop moniker is Jason Siau) and his 'hos for a bit. Which I hopped over to join S.T. (known to his mum as Sujin Thomas) and his bitch Victoria and those 2 rockers Caleb and Daniel (they is not hip-hop-non-stop-till-you-drop, yo).

Was great to catch up with MC A (who moonlights as the editor of JUNK, Adlin Rosli) and the soul sista Kim at his booth. The 2 crazy kids are here in town for the weekend. They'd be coming back for the Mosaic Music Festival. MC A introduced me to his posse as a Singaporean from a land with crap food. But we have more music festivals and a year-end bikini fashion parade aka ZoukOut! Take that, you Malaysians! *shakes fist at MC A*

Jurassic 5 was decent but suffered from the stage left array speaker breaking down on them.

The Beastie Boys came on in business suits with suitcases and did a instrumental jam. They were supported by a keyboardist, a percussionist and Mixmaster Mike who was fucken ace. As they meant biz-ness, they were 3 MCs and 1 DJ and they'd be getting down with no delay, throwing out hits like 'Ch-ch-check it out' and old classics like 'Check Your Rump' and 'Brass Monkey'. Though they didn't do 'Fight For Your Right To Party' which I didn't expect anyway, they did 'Sabotage' which was the first ever Beastie Boy tune I had ever heard. So I is happy.

The whole festival was great but I overspent... as usual. Heh

After the whole shebang, I caught up with K-Man (aka Kinho) and B-boy (aka Bowie) from The Breakbeat Theory, a live drum'n'bass act. They went to jam at a studio in Excelsior Hotel and helped me set up a keyboard so that I can jam with them. These guys are good lah so it was pretty embarrassing. Fer fuck's sake, I played a fucken Cmaj7sus4 chord for like 15 fucken minutes. But it was fun and it's been eons since I had jammed with anyone. Missed it terribly. I think these guys will have an interesting sound once they sort themselves out.
